TIP

For 99% of seams, your stitch length should be set at 2–3mm (about ⅛ in.).

TURNING CORNERS

There aren’t many sewing projects that can be made using just straight lines, so at some point you will inevitably need to turn a corner on the sewing machine.

1 When you’ve reached the point at which you need to turn, stop sewing and lower the needle all the way into your fabric, using either the needle or the balance wheel at the side of the machine.

2 Raise the sewing foot and pivot the fabric around until the sewing foot faces the direction in which you wish to continue sewing.

3 Lower the sewing foot and continue sewing forwards again.
